About Moscow

Moscow developed around the Kremlin and the bends of the Moskva River, becoming Russia's political centre and largest city. Rings of streets and railways preserve successive stages of its outward growth.

The central area places medieval cathedrals, imperial institutions, Soviet monuments and contemporary public spaces close together. Red Square remains the clearest starting point for reading these layers.
