About Tbilisi
Tbilisi developed along the Kura River in a narrow valley between hills. Its location on routes across the Caucasus brought repeated changes of rule and a diverse urban culture.
The centre combines old balconies, churches and sulphur baths with nineteenth-century avenues and modern bridges. Steep streets and viewpoints make changes of height part of almost every walk.
